Inspired by another blogger’s account of his day, dr. filomena got her recap of a full day ready for you. This is Saturday, 22 July 2007. Not too dull a day. Can imagine what Adriaan’s comment will be.

00h – Gone out on the town. Met a group of old college mates and ran into a couple of Brits-turned-nearly-Slovene, one of whom I’ve known for 9 years. Yikes, time flies! Almost cashed in on an owed mojito, but the otherwise nice place the Cutty Sark with great music ran out of spearmint. The improvized cocktail was Ok since the company was good With the birthday party girls, found a place to dance that wasn’t completely desolate and even had a lovely view of the city from the terrace. Belgrade native confirmed his home town being alcohol+party.

7h – Damn that bio clock that won’t sleep even on weekends! Off to Šmarna gora we go. Got a bit of sun and fresh air. This is where Ian would probably love to go (think flying). Took some photos of butterflies. And of a golden retriever (Hera) who wouldn’t let me take butterfly pics unless she had some attention first.

10h – What does one do on a hot day? I had it from a reliable source that one goes to hell. Pekel (literally translated as “hell”) is a gorge near Borovnica south-west of Ljubljana. With a stream and a set of five waterfalls, this narrow and steep gorge protected by a mysterious, dark forest, provides the welcome freshness even on the hottest of summer days. Took more photos of butterflies, ants, insects I don’t yet know the name of and… a freshwater crayfish! This was so exciting! I had hurt my finger climbing (this is not a sprehod!)up one of the metal ladders (think finger caught between metal and rock, not nice) and was chilling the pain in the water, had camera ready for a tiny butterfly and out from under the rock crawls this guy.

13h – Off to a village in Vipavska dolina to visit family. As this includes grandmoter, pass on the recommended trout at Pekel this time around (where there is a grandmother, there is food… lots of food). Spent time with her sister from Sicily, a real character. We have lots in common. Will share a letter she’d been given over 60 years ago.

17h – Knight Tournament at Predjama Castle. A colourful event with attention paid to detail in many respects. Reinactment of battles of days gone by along with the trades of that time represented by craftsmen selling everything from food to clay pots and fur. Observing the slightly less elaborate tools humans once used to kill one another left me slightly less than enthused, but the scenery and costumes were beautiful. And horses are always a nice sight.

21h – The latest Harry Potter came to town, ergo I took my cousin to see it. The book has been my traditional end-of-school-year to him and movie is a must. This one is LONG.

00h – Home sweet home. Thinking finger still hurts, but the photos of the crayfish were worth it And here is another favourite: Can you see the damselfly grin as he caught his lunch?

V slikovito ponazoritev dileme iz prvega posta na temo las je Sabina zjutraj uporabila Nikki in poskrbela za “prej” fotko iz morebitne bodoče “prej in potem” zadeve Lasje do tal! Stanje je pereče, ukrepi so nujni.

She’s here! After roughly 20 years of dreaming about my very own SLR, she’s here. Her name is Nikon D40 and I adopted her from Hannes at Knauserershop in Austria. If anyone is looking to buy, I warmly recommend Hannes as not only the price was the best I could find, but the communication has been exceptional as well. My friends know what this means to me… and I suspect some bloggers do, as well. Right, bubašvabe?

My heart jumped for joy when I emptied my mailbox (yep, the non-electronic ones do actually still exist) yesterday evening and this morning I picked up my “Nikki” on the way to work, ripped the box open and let the batteries fill up under my desk while I was busy in meetings, property viewings, traditional Friday lunch with Sabina and writing up a description of our latest investment project in the Caribbean. Perfect timing as the battery filled up just by the time I was ready to leave the office.

I had fun quickly assembling the camera and taking the first few shots and can’t wait to get a chance to really test her and start playing with filters etc. Photography, here I come!

On a different note, seeing as I’ve heard my grandmother’s stories over and over (and over) over the years, it’s shocking that she still manages to find one I haven’t known. She is a very interesting lady. Worked in Ljubljana’s “rižarna” (rice plant) during WW II as a bookkeeper (she kept the real books for the boss, not the ones submitted to the tax officials… some things never change, huh) and supported the resistance fighters throughout the war by helping supply them with rice, knitting socks, gloves and ear muffs and the likes. What I just learned today while taking these shots is that she had also typed up the hand-written diary of Pavla Leban, the nurse in the famous Franja Partisan Hospital.

Brskam in brskam po računalniku, še vedno v pričakovanju novega fotoaparata. Jonas, skoten poleti 2004, je bil (pazi – izbruh neskromnosti) eden izmed najlepših perzijskih muckov, kar jih je kdaj ugledalo svet v Sloveniji. Na žalost je imel manjšo napako. Od določenih dveh zadevic je imel samo eno. Tako je namesto seksi perzijskih deklet spoznal Žigo, malega moža s posebnimi potrebami. Zgodila se je ljubezen na prvi pogled in interakcija med njima je bila resnično ganljiva. Sčasoma pa je deček razvil alergijo in kljub zlomljenim srcom ni šlo drugače, kot da se je Jonas preselil. Zdaj živi pri super družini na Krasu.

Jan, hvala za link… Standardni HTML tagi niso delovali, ampak vedno bolj spoznavam možnosti, ki jih ponuja tale blog. Končno reč deluje (ob podpori banane, če že ne banane split) Za mušter (da bom v prihodnje kopipejstala, ane) po tem, ko sem si snela stiskalnico avijev, ki mi je 30 mega monstrum skrčila na 2 mega in se registrirala na YouTube, na dva načina prilagam en mini posnetek za hec. Tu sta Jonas in Idared.

Ob zadnjem obiskom Moskve decembra 2006 me je med potepanjem po mestu zaneslo tudi v manj opazen muzej v bližini Rdečega trga, “Novo manežo”. V zanimivi zgradbi je bila postavljena obsežna razstava ob pomembni obletnici.

Bolj kot se stvari spreminjajo, bolj ostajajo enake, eh?

Žal fotoaparata nisem imela s seboj, vseeno pa sem napravila nekaj posnetkov s telefončkom:
